Recovery Support Program

Recovery is Possible and it looks different for everyone

Promoting HOPE, supporting healing, and keeping communications open with loved ones.

When NOMA was founded in 2016, the focus was on families impacted by addiction. Years later, we expanded that focus to support those seeking recovery and those living in recovery.

There is no better support than someone who has walked in your shoes and is willing to walk alongside you through this journey.

How We Help

Meet with one of our social workers to help identify your family’s needs. Together, we’ll explore your options and plan next steps.
You Are Not Alone
Support is available for anyone impacted by substance use disorder
Resource Navigation

We will provide you with resources including treatment programs, outpatient services, recovery housing, detox providers, and recovery-friendly medical care that you can connect with – and determine what best suits your needs, as well as your loved one’s needs.

Join sober social events like Sober Softball, NOMA Kicks Kickball and Dodgeball, Sober Sundays entertainment, NOMADs Yellow Balloon Campaign, volunteer opportunities, and other NOMA supported community gatherings where recovery is celebrated, not hidden.

Fellowship opportunities can play a powerful role in long term recovery because they help address one of the biggest challenges many individuals face after substance use: isolation. Recovery is often strengthened through connection, purpose, and belonging.

A few years ago, NOMA introduced the Yellow Balloon Campaign with the goal of providing a safe, sober space for our recovery community attending outdoor entertainment events. Our supporters and followers are called: NOMADS

The Yellow Balloon Movement began in the 1980s for individuals in recovery who enjoy concerts, tailgating or other events without the presence of drugs or alcohol.

Examples of the Yellow Balloon Movement are:

Grateful Dead followers in recovery call themselves: Wharf Rats.

Phish followers in recovery call themselves: The Phellowship

Recovery groups at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival call themselves: Soberside

The Collegiate Recovery Community at the University of Alabama supports its students in recovery by setting up a yellow balloon tailgating area – serving as a beacon of safe space for those in recovery.

In 2025, NOMA introduced the concept of Yellow Cups – an alternative to Huntsville downtown entertainment district’s purple cups. Patrons are allowed to exit certain establishments with alcoholic beverages.

NOMA’s goal to provide our recovery community a sense of community and belonging generated the Yellow Cup campaign. We advocate replacing purple cups with yellow cups for the recovery community.

“Same streets. Same events. A different choice.”
